Quotes from people who use Fraglets™ Art as part of the hospital Artist-in-Residence Program:

"I loved the colors. The experience of working with the colors and shapes massaged my brain. Using this art is like taking a journey to all the places you want to go."

Person receiving chemotherapy in infusion suite

"I came in here [chemotherapy unit) thinking I'd have an unremarkable day, and now I'm leaving thinking all about colors and self-expression and I'm going to go home and play with color.  What fun!"

Woman receiving chemotherapy

“This is the best thing that has happened to me all week.  Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable”

Elderly man in-patient, Neurology

“This patient has been abusive, angry, and uncooperative all day.  I can’t believe she was so engaged in what you were doing together!”

Nurse, In-patient area

“Thank you for doing this with me.  I didn’t realize how much my farm means to me until I started playing with the shapes, and I found myself creating my orchard."

In-patient on cancer unit who had been unable to leave her room for several weeks

“I can do it!  I thought I had no art talent, but I was able to move the pieces around like I wanted to.  I like this.  I could do it all day long.”

In-patient, medical unit

"I know Mr. B. can hardly see, and since his stroke, he can't move very well.  But he worked on his Fraglets painting for four hours, and was so proud of what he did.  He kept having me come in and see what he'd done."

Nurse on neurology unit, about her patient

"Everyone else in my family is an artist but me, so I didn't really want to do art.  But when I started playing with these colors and seeing that I liked what I did, and I think I'm going to take this photo home and show my children.  They'll be very impressed."

Elderly woman in chemotherapy unit

"Where can I get these? I've never seen anything like it. I think every patient room and hospital waiting room should have something like this."

Family member of hospitalized patient

Group Art Workshops Using Fraglets Art

"We need these for our meetings.  We could sit around the conference table, and when things get heated, we could calm down by playing with the Fraglets."
- Fran, Nursing administration, DHMC

"I greatly appreciate the opportunity to escape a bit and tap the creative side of my brain!"
- Employee, DHMC

"For two weeks I've been here in the Psych Unit, thinking only about suicide. For the last hour, while we all worked on our Fraglets Art, all those thoughts left my brain. I think the colors have given me hope."
   In-patient, hospital psychiatric unit
It was a great opportunity for me to take a break from a stressful day and relax as I tapped into my creative side.
- Resource specialist

I would very much like one of the bigger Fraglets Art paintings to be put up here in the family waiting room [for the operating room].  Every waiting room should have one.  It would be such a good thing to help with the stress.  I’d bet the families from the ICU waiting room would use it, too.
-Kim, Staff Post-op Waiting Room

About the Fraglets™ Art Public Art

I ended up playing with your Fraglet picture in the cafeteria, then discovered you're its inventor. So cool! I really love what you've come up with - very fun, accessible and imaginative. Thanks for putting this concept out into the community - it's very inspired. I'd think that virtually every doctor's/lawyer's/other office waiting room would love to have something like this on their wall...

- Mimi, Continuing Care Manager Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center

Fraglets are a hit at my library! Patrons linger at the desk playing with them and changing each other's art. It is never the same two hours in a row.

-Kata, Librarian, Cavendish Community Library:

I love going to the cafeteria and playing with the art on the walls.  Every time I go to put my tray away, I find a few pieces that I want to move.  It makes me feel like an artist.

- Jan, Nurse at DHMC

Oh, you’re the person with the magnetic art!  I saw the one in the cafeteria and went up to it and saw that I could move the pieces around, and couldn’t believe how much fun it is!  Every time I go there, it’s different.

- Family member of patient in Epilepsy unit

Boy, I could have used this a few weeks ago, when I was here [in the waiting room] all day and night, with nothing to do.  I really could have used something like this to keep me occupied.
